UN Secretary-General António Guterres said: "Climate change is a terrifying situation that is happening right here and right now. But it's just the beginning," he warned.
"The world has profited from the use of fossil fuels and has virtually turned a blind eye to climate change action. There is still time to avoid the worst if we meet the goal of limiting the global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius," he said, urging member states to take immediate action.
Fossil fuels are the main culprit in the climate crisis.
To achieve carbon neutrality, we need to be more aggressive in reducing the use of fossil fuels and increasing the share of renewable energy.
