What year is it? Is there building a new coal plant?🤷

💁Unfortunately, there still is.🥲 To stop this nonsense, 'Korea Beyond Coal' gathered in Samcheok.

🌊On March 30th and 31st, we held a two-day campaign in Samcheok, to demand an end to the construction of the Samcheok Coal Power Plant (Samcheok Blue Power), the last new coal power plant in Korea.

We made our voices heard through local seminars, a press conference in front of Samcheok Blue Power's headquarters, and a march and kite flying🪁 performance.

Stopping the construction of new coal-fired power plants is the easiest and fastest way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions💨.

Samcheok Blue Power has become an environmentally and financially unprofitable business in the era of climate change response. And recently, the transportation of coal by land has caused great harm to local residents. Erosion of Mangbang Beach continues, and Samcheok residents strongly want the plant to be halted.
